Currently, I am working at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai, India as Senior Scientific Officer-F. I did M.Sc (Animal Physiology), M. Ed, M.A and M.Phil (Education), Ph D (Education) and MBA (HR) degrees. I was Postdoctoral students at Marang Centre for Maths and Science Education, Wits School of Education, Johannesburg, South Africa. My area of research are: Students’ Conceptions and Misconceptions, Open Educational Resources, Activity Based Science Learning, Critical thinking skills, Participatory Action Research, Topic Specific Pedagogical Content Knowledge and interested in Tribal & Rural Education, Health Education, Biology Education and Teacher Education. I shared my research experiences in many national and international conferences and published in journals. I am a author of 6 books, participated in 4 books and 6 courses, 3 technical reports. I also associated with many national and international educational, comparative education and biology education and science education research associations. I organised 26th Biennial Conference of the Asian Association for Biology Education at Goa, India from September 20 -23, 2016 on: Trends in Biology Education & Research: Practices & Challenges. Currently I have been working on State Curriculum Framework-School Education 2024, State Board School Science Syllabus and Grade 9 & 10 Science textbook writing. Also I am involved in an extension of an international collaborative project on ‘Understanding the level of critical thinking internalized by science student-teachers and the associated misconceptions. An international perspective’. This project is from 2021-2023 in collaboration with Mauritius Institute of Education, Mauritius and Rayat Education Society’s Azad College of Education, Satara; Thakur Shyamnarayan College of Education and Research, Kandivali, Mumbai & MCT's College of Education & Research, Airoli, Navi Mumbai, India. Part of this project, he organized two workshops: ‘International Workshop on Cultivating Critical Thinking in Teaching & Learning’. I have been working on teacher education, material development and outreach for students, teachers and research. I have been involved more in outreach and material development activities related to teacher education. I also initiated many short and long term projects on teacher education, where I worked as a resource person and incorporated Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). I also incorporated PCK in designing materials and resources for students & teachers, developing OERs and tools for assessment. I started movement of Vidnyan Parishad (Science Teachers Symposium) in Rayat and Shivaji Shikshan Sanshta, Satara and Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, Maharashtra, India, for science teachers at State Level and I also initiated Sri Lanka’s short courses for science teacher, educators and officers at International level, where he incorporated PCK rigorously. I also participated in various courses designing; involved in graduate courses; networking with state, national and international institutes, universities and educational societies, associations and organizations; also organized teachers’ workshops and delivered sessions. I have been conducting graduate courses for research scholars on Teaching Overview cum Practicum and Understanding Teaching Practices, where emphasis is on PCK and TSPCK, at HBCSE-TIFR, Mumbai, India. After compilation of my postdoctoral study on Topic Specific Pedagogical Content Knowledge in Biological Sciences with Dr Eunice Nyamupangedengu at Marang Centre for Mathematics and Science Education, School of Education, University of the Witwatersrand, Parktown, Johannesburg, South Africa, I conducted many workshops for pre & practicing teachers in India. In collaboration with Dr Eunice Nyamupangedengu, I also presented research papers in various conferences.
